Artist Patrizia Viselli - featured Summer 2009

Patrizia Viselli graduated from Concordia University with a BFA, Major Art Education. She has taught in various settings such as, The Saidye Bronfman Centre for the Arts (Youth Institute), Nesbitt School, Douglas Hospital, Foyer Chambord, and more. Over the past five years, Patrizia has been teaching the Mandala as an art from; exploring both expressive and educational benefits.

The artist's fascination with the circle led her to create a series of Mandalas that celebrate the union of traditional notions and artistic vision. Throughout this journey, Patrizia was inspired by nature's gems, and as a result, believes that we are surrounded by Mandalas.

Artist Yuji Yokoyama - featured Spring & Summer 2009

Yuji Yokoyama is originally from Hyogo Prefecture in Japan where he spent several years working as an artisan of Japanese kotos (harps). Since 1990, M. Yokoyama has dedicated himself to painting on a full-time basis. His works are exhibited regularly in galleries and  can be found in several public and private collections in Japan. He has been the recipient of several National art awards.

Yuji Yokoyama's landscape paintings depict images drawn from the extensive time he has spent exploring Hokkaido in Northern Japan, as well as long periods of time spent in Europe, Australia and Canada. With his work, he strives to interpret the rhythm of nature, its movement, scent, presence and feeling.

In 1996, Yuji Yokoyama moved to Canada but he continues to divide his time between Hyogo Prefecture and Montreal where he maintains his studio.

Intro to Yoga Pt.II

Want a better understanding of yoga and the yoga asanas (postures)? This course will break down the yoga asanas with a strong focus on breath and insight into the philosophy behind the physical practice. It is designed for beginners who are familiar with the basics of yoga or past practitioners who seek to return to their practice. Sun salutations, standing postures, sitted postures, backbends and beginner inversions will be covered.

Family Tam Tam Jam
TBA  (13h - 14:30h)

Led by drumming instructor James Olmsted, this self contained one class workshop is designed for parents and kids to discover Tam Tam drumming in a group setting. No musical experience necessary, only lots of enthusiasm!  We supply the drums. Tons of fun and noise guaranteed! Children 9 yrs. and older.

ADULT MORNING PROGRAM BY THE LAKE

Join Yasmin for a week of sunrises in Pointe Claire Village and blissful yoga practices. Arrive between 6:00 and 7:45 am and begin your practice at your leisure. Practices are designed for you based on your personal goals and experience. End your practice in your own time and enjoy a picnic breakfast before continuing your day.

Delve deeper into your practice with this detailed 15 hour workshop covering the fundamental principles of yoga. Led by yoga instructor and owner of Om West Holistic Centre Yasmin F. Gow, this weekend seminar is ideal for all levels of students-- beginners wanting personal assistance and a base of knowledge, intermediate students wanting to deepen their practice, and advanced students and teacher wanting to refresh their knowledge. (This mini course can be counted toward teacher training credits or continuing education. Please speak to Yasmin if you are interested in this option.)
