Studio Logistics
Centre Holistique Om West is located at 46 Ste Anne Street, off Lakeshore Rd in Pointe Claire Village. We are on the second floor above Babar Books and Salon Capro. Our Centre consists of two large, sunny yoga studios and four comforting therapy rooms offering a variety of unique services. We also have a boutique, rest area and communal kitchenette.
History
Formerly named Centre Holistique de Pointe Claire, this special yoga space was founded in 1996 by Germaine Cohen, owner of Jessy Natural Foods and now owner of Harvard Cafe in Monkland Village. Since its opening, the Centre has hosted a variety of remarkable teachers and public figures. The studio was renamed Centre Holistique Om West in 2007 and it is now owned by yoga instructor Yasmin F. Gow and managed by Doll Bhagat.
In October 2008, the Centre grew by 700 sq/ft to occupy the entire second floor of 46 Ste Anne Street. At this time, a new yoga studio, an administrative office and a second therapy room was added to the space. Then in December 2009, Yasmin and designer Katie Thomassin of KMT Designs drew up plans to further improve the function and esthetics of the Centre. So, in winter 2010, renovations took place to recreate the entrance, open up the reception area, add a boutique and kitchenette, enlarge a bathroom, and add two new therapy rooms.
Om West continues to offer yoga and meditation classes and programs for children, adolescents, adults, parents-to-be, new mothers and seniors. We also offer various treatments like shiatsu, reflexology, and yoga therapy. In addition, the space is frequently used for poetry readings, lectures, social gatherings and weekend workshops. In January 2009, a charitable yoga class by donation was introduced on the Sunday morning schedule. This successful community class has benefited a variety of charities including the David Suzuki Foundation, the Montreal Children's Hospital, VOBOC, Stephen Lewis Foundation, Amnesty International, SOS Planet, the Montreal Welcome Hall Mission and Dans La Rue.
Our faculty consists of highly motivated and skilled professionals. Beginners are always welcome, as are experienced practitioners.
Namaste, I bow to the divinity that is within you, that is also within me.
